It's been over a decade since Red Pets the store closed its doors. The music business is pretty much entirely different now. It's both sad and exciting; it's much more democratic but, it seems, much more ephemeral. One thing that we'd like to think is timeless is Something Fierce -- the Minnesota indie pop band from the 80s, NOT the Houston punk-metal band from the late 00s. Something Fierce got me (Scot) my start in the music biz, and as kind of a thank you, I helped put together the definitive completist collection in 2009. It, and other vintage Something Fierce CDs are available here.
Red Pets is now collecting some hard-to-find tracks and committing them to MP3. Everything on this page is here is provided free with permission of the artists. We call it Wiretap. Download and enjoy. And don't abuse the technology -- when it's indie, buy it. Independent musicians make their livings off their CDs, and probably don't make as good a living as you do.
