Two-time Czech Grammy winner Lenka Dusilova and Czechomor -- the Czech Republic's premier folk-rock group -- will perform Sunday, October 15 in New Prague. The concert is in support of Jessica Peterson's campaign for State Senate. Tickets are $5 each.

Czechomor, currently bringing their unique take on the folk traditions of Moravia to the United States with triumphant success-starting out their 2006 tour at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, where they set attendance records -will perform with the celebrated Dusilova in the beautiful New Prague High School Auditorium at 8 pm Sunday evening, October 15th. This rare chance to experience their music open to the general public and everyone is invited to attend. Arrangements will gladly be made for the elderly and those with unique needs.

Deeply rooted in Moravian village music, Czechomor's repertoire reflects the passion and anguish of a region moulded by centuries of Ottoman raids, Napoleonic battles and folk ballads. Czechomor also provides an excellent opportunity for fans to trace back Celtic echoes that lie deeply rooted in the cultures of Bohemia and Moravia but which are related to the music of Brittany and Ireland in particular. The band's unique mix of traditional folk mixed with Ottoman dissonance, Gypsy czardas, Napoleonic mustering dances and Celtic rhythms have succeeded in winning over young and old alike.

"Politics is usually so divisive," says Jessica. "We wanted to show that it doesn't have to be that way. We wanted to do something that would bring people together, that would make people feel like the political process can be a positive thing, a community thing. And we definitely didn't want it to be a bunch of people telling you what to believe and what to do. We think there's room for all beliefs, all faiths, all opinions in our world, and we're bringing Czechomor and Lenka here to show that little children and senior citizens, teachers and farmers, people from all walks of life can come together and see a group from across the ocean play great music, and everyone can have a good time."

(For those in need of a musical reference, think of Czechomor as a Czech Chieftains or Planxty, but with a more modern sound. Lenka's beautiful voice and music may remind some of Dido or Bjork. But listen for yourself!)
